Today is the day we've been waiting for since November! We've been anxiously counting down to this magical date. I got ready for the doctor this morning, knowing there would be a huge chance that I would still not be dilated, but secretly hoping he'd say, "Wow! You're ready! Let's get you to the hospital NOW!" Instead, the doctor checked my cervix and said, "Come to my office. We need to schedule you to be induced." So, still nothing. I wanted them to induce me Friday because David has the day off, but they won't induce you unless you are 41 weeks exactly. Hopefully Charlie will make his debut before this weekend, but at the rate I've been progressing (meaning- not at all), I'm thinking we'll be inducing. If that's the case, we check in to the hospital Sunday night at 6 for me to receive cervidil for 12 hours, then pitocin the following morning. If baby isn't here by Monday afternoon, they'll do a c-section. I left the office and sat in my car boo-hooing. I should be so excited that I will be holding my baby boy within a week, but this visit scared me. I'm scared that I'll push for several hours, tear, and then have a c-section. So I'll have tears and a painful abdominal scar. I'm also scared that David won't be able to make it in time. I have so many worries going through my mind now. I really have to focus on praying for peace of mind and handing my worries over. You all know that's hard for me because I am a HUGE worry wart, but I'm working on lifting up my worries and letting the Lord take them. It will all work out and I'll have a sweet angel boy by the time this is all over! So now, we wait...
Here are some pictures of the nursery. I'm pretty much done; I just have a few little things like staging the shelves left.
The crib was a wonderful surprise from the hostesses of my Montgomery shower. It's a Jenny Lind crib with a linen bed skirt from
Three Sheets. Sheets are Natural Organic Cotton jersey knit sheets in neutral from
BuyBuy Baby and they are amazing. My mom had the bumper made with a cream matelasse and dusty blue piping and ties. I found the frames at
Cottontails. The vendor was

I didn't plan on using SO much chevron, but I had a lot left over, so it became the curtains, a pillow, the trim and ruffles on the runner, and the french laundry basket liner. It's a chevron explosion.
For the changing table, we used my great-grandmother's buffet. It's the piece we used to have in the dining room in Auburn, but we didn't really have a place for it in NC. We painted it white and I made burlap runner with chevron trim and ruffles. I still need to scuff up the buffet to make it a little more rustic. The lamps are from my mom's boss. They're AWESOME in person. I found a project on Pinterest where you wrap wooden letters in yarn for decorative wall art, so I attempted Charlie's initials. It was quite an ordeal. At the time, I had no idea that the booming metropolis of Fayetteville actually had a Hobby Lobby. I found a Michael's (which I typically love), but this one is VERY small, not well stocked, and doesn't have a fabric department. They had some 12" letters, but of course, no C, H, or P. Soooo, I bought an 'I' and some foam board. I used the 'I' to create the H and P, then used a plate to help make the C. I then wrapped each letter with twine. It takes A LOT more twine than you think it would!! Foam board isn't the most sturdy option, but it worked. I used twine because it was more masculine than yarn and went better with the burlap in the runner.
Here's a detail of the runner:
I made the chevron curtains and the slipcover for the chair. David's brother, Joseph, made the table for Charlie. He built it using barn wood from their grandfather's old barn. Pretty cool! It will be a staple in Charlie's room as he grows up.

And of course, a little piece of home. I purchased this print off of
Etsy. Rebecca painted a wooden frame for this print so that I can hang it by the closet.
Now I'm trying to stage the shelves. Elizabeth has some of the coolest and most random things on her shelves throughout her new house and she said the best tip is to buy what you like even if you don't really know what you're going to do with it exactly, and the shelves will come together. So when I come home, Charlie and I will be knick knack shopping! I really want some vintage children books, a lantern, and an old school Aubie, so be on the lookout!
That's all for now... I'll keep you posted with baby boy's progress.
