Memorial Day Weekend

David, Charlie, Hutch, Rebel, and I loaded the truck with 3 months worth of STUFF and headed to Alabama. David will be training for 3 months out of pocket, so we're living at home for the summer. We had a long, but nice drive in to The Magic City.

The Birmingham Zoo had free admission for military members and their families, so we took advantage of a beautiful (and free) day at the zoo. Charlie loved watching the animals, but he enjoyed seeing all of the kids just as much. He really enjoyed riding the train and the carousel as well!

We cooked out at Aunt Dawn and Uncle Jay's house on Sunday.

He LOVES doing the Itsy Bitsy Spider with Gigi!

After Saturday brunch at El Barrio, we stopped by for a quick visit with Aunt Becca.

We are going to miss David so much! We'll stay busy with trips, swim lessons, and visiting with friends and family, so hopefully the time will fly by!

Carly's Wedding Weekend

Carly's rehearsal dinner was held at the lodge at the Birmingham Zoo. It was such a great location! I wish I had taken pictures of the decorations and the lodge. The lodge looks like an English country house with a gravel path leading to it, straight from a fairy tale. Luckily the weather cooperated and we had a beautiful evening outside celebrating Carly and Matt. Lisa did such a great job planning and decorating! The party was so much fun!

On Saturday, we went to the new Westin downtown Birmingham to hang out with Carly as she was getting ready. Charlie had so much fun!

He LOVED the mirrored table legs!

Right at wedding time, we had some mild showers, so they post-poned the ceremony for a few minutes.     The ceremony at Sloss was beautiful! Chris and Wendy found church pews, painted and restored them, and mixed them with chairs and benches to make a beautiful seating area for the guests.

Maggy was such a sweet helper with baby Charlie.
Pippa was worn out after her ceremony obligations!

The reception was on the other side of sloss under the water tower. It was so unique and completely Carly.
Cake was Cakes by Barb and Shindigs catered the food. SO DELICIOUS.

Between the ceremony and reception we had a HUGE down pour. Lane and Coley saved the cake and the food was miraculously saved as well. The decorations survived the beating of the rain.
Charlie shared an umbrella with Aunt Lynn and Uncle Tommy. Despite the initial trouble when the green blanket landed in a puddle, he had fun watching the rain and playing with the umbrella.

Cristopher spent weeks restoring PopPop's old car. He got it working just in time for the wedding! It was so emotional seeing the old car working again. PopPop was definitely there in spirit celebrating with us!

Such a beautiful, fun night. The rain didn't stop us from having a great time!! I'll post the link to the professional photog's picutres when we get it.
Congratulations Carly and Matt!!!
